Just a couple of days ahead of its official release, Netflix has shared a new trailer for its soon-to-be-released highly-anticipated Black samurai anime “Yasuke.”
Created by LeSean Thomas and animated by renowned Japanese animation studio MAPPA, Yasuke centers around a real-life man of African origin who served under the Japanese daimyō Oda Nobunaga in the 1500s.
The Black samurai voiced by LaKeith Stanfield finds himself caught up in the social upheaval between warring daimyō in a war-torn feudal Japan filled with mechs and magic. On his quest for peace, Yasuke is tasked with protecting a mysterious child targeted by dark forces and bloodthirsty warlords. Yasuke is also scored and executive produced by Flying Lotus for an added layer to all the action.
